What should I wear to church?
We are a casual church. While you might see a few shirts and ties around on Sunday, mostly you’ll see people dressed casual/comfortable. We want to be a “come as you are church,” so come as you are! The only thing we ask is that, whatever you wear, please show modesty.
What about my children?
During our Sunday School hour (9 am) and Sunday Service (10 am) we have programs for birth-5th grade (click here to go to our kids ministry page). This is not babysitting; it’s background checked and trained adults investing in and teaching our children God’s word in a way that they will understand. For your baby or toddler, be sure to pick up a pager so that we can contact you discretely during the church service.
What happens during the service?
There are several elements to our Sunday morning worship service…
- Singing/Worship: while we sing both contemporary songs and hymns, all music is played with a band and aims to glorify God.
- Preaching: we strive to present a message based on God’s word that is encouraging, challenging, and relevant.
- Communion: We take communion every Sunday at Northwest; we want to be reminded of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. We also take the bread and juice together as a reminder that we are not alone, we are journeying through life with other people.
- Offering: Every Sunday we collect an offering as part of our worship to our generous God.
What doesn’t happen during the service?
At Northwest, you will never be “called on” our “called out” during our church service. We strive to be a safe place for you to investigate both Jesus and our church.
How can I find out more?
Every Sunday we invite guests to receive a packet of information at our welcome table. In addition to that you can always email or call the church office (217-429-4278). We would be happy to answer any questions you might have about our church.
