Food Pantry - The first Sunday of each month is Food Pantry Sunday. We use this Sunday to help stock our food pantry. The carts near the entrances are there for you to place your donated goods. We also take monetary donations and will do the shopping if you would rather donate in that way. Food pantry operation hours are on Tuesdays from 9am-12pm. If you would like to volunteer to help out in the food pantry or if you need a list of items we give out, please contact the office at 217-429-4278.

Communion Help– If you would like to help serve communion on Sunday mornings, please contact Andrea Zelhart at 217-855-5456 or check the box on your connect card and turn it in to an offering plate at the back of the sanctuary.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast– All men are welcome to join together to connect with one another and pray at Panera on Thursday mornings at 7:00 a.m. Come when you can, leave when you have to.

Prayer Requests- If you have a prayer request or praise, you can write it on your Connect Card and turn it in, email [email protected], or call or text the church phone at 217-429-4278. Please include the prayer request or praise and whether it needs to remain confidential.

Membership– If you are interested in placing your membership or getting baptized, please check the box on your Connect Card and our Senior Minister will contact you.

Volunteers Needed- We have many volunteers in our KidZone ministry– nursery, preschool, and elementary– that are heading off to college. If you are interested in volunteering one Sunday a month with any age, please mark the box on your Connect Card or talk to Scott Monette or Melissa Ryan.

Life Group– Students who graduate high school and stay local for their next step can sometimes feel left out in the church; youth groups aren’t really meant for them, but adult small groups seem a little out of reach. That’s why NW Student Ministry is starting Life Group: a small group for the in-between time of emerging adulthood. If you’re done with high school and looking to connect with other 18-25 year-olds, this one’s for you! Watch for more info on when this group will start in the coming weeks.

New Team– The Property Team would like to get a team together to help offset the cleaning crew that comes every other week. They are looking for volunteers who would be willing to check and take out the garbage on both the upper and lower levels, spot clean the sanctuary as needed, and check the toilet paper and paper towels to make sure they are stocked for Sundays. They are looking for at least 4 volunteers or groups of volunteers so that a rotation can be made. Please reach out to the office by calling or texting 217-429-4278 or emailing at [email protected] if you would be willing to volunteer for this new team.

Knitting Club– The knitting club has resumed meeting on Wednesday mornings from 9-11am. They meet in A3– which is the classroom off of the foyer. No experience is needed, just a willingness to try!

Staycation 2024– Summer is quickly winding down, and our last Staycation event is less than 2 weeks away! Saturday, August 10th we will be having a Back to School Cookout Party at NWCC from 4-8pm. There will be water balloons, a slip and slide, an obstacle course, food, and more. There are postcard invitations at the Welcome Desk and the Kids Check In!

The Book of Ecclesiastes– A current topical Sunday School class is called The Book of Ecclesiastes: Where to Turn When Life Gets You Downis currently meeting in A1 and will run through August 25th. Steve Higgs and Scott Monette will be teaching this class.

High School Lock-In– If you finished 8th-12th grade this past year, join us for the 2024 high school lock in and bring your friends! The fun starts at 9:00 pm on Friday, August 23rd and goes all night long! We’ll wrap things up at 7:00 am on Saturday, August 24th with some breakfast.

NWCC Greeting Team– Do you enjoy chatting with people? Are you interested in getting more involved at NWCC? We are looking for a few more volunteers to help out on our greeting team. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please check the box on your Connect Card or contact Melissa in the church office by calling or texting (217)429=4278 or emailing [email protected].

Great Lakes Christian College Presentation– Join us August 11 at 6:30pm for dessert, coffee, and a presentation from the president of GLCC Frank Weller about the state of Christian higher education and Great Lakes Christian College’s mission and vision.

NWCC Food Pantry– With school just around the corner, we would like to stock some school supplies for the families that utilize the pantry. You can leave the school supplies in the baskets near the entrances or drop them off in the office. Thank you for helping support the families of Decatur!
